If a Boiler Service just won't do the trick, and you need a new boiler all together, then have a little read of the types of boilers below and decide what is best for you, or give us a call and we can help you on your way to a warmer home!
Types of boilers
Natural Gas Boilers:
Natural Gas is piped to your home via a supply company. A lot of heating systems can be powered by gas such as Combi's, Back Boilers, Wall Heaters etc. One of the main benefits of using Natural Gas is that you know you are not going to run out of fuel for your heating. LPG Boilers:
In some situations you may find it too expensive or impractical to get Natural Gas. LPG is supplied to your home through large orange cylinders (each standing approximately 4 feet tall). In most cases, 2 of these cylinders are fitted with a valve to switch between the two. This is because there is not a gauge that can tell you how full they are, by doing this you can be sure that you wont be caught off guard. Although LPG works in exactly the same way as Natural Gas, you will need to have a boiler that can be made compatible via a conversion kit. We at Eco Dragon can offer to come out for free to assess whether your boiler is compatible or not. |
Solid Fuel Boilers:
Most solid fuel heating boilers are limited to back boilers or kitchen ranges. Some solid fuel boilers use automatically fed pellets from a hopper situated outside the house. Solid fuel comes in a variety of forms such as coal or wood which unfortunately means they can often be messy and require frequent cleaning, and are inefficient as they consist of open fires. Oil Boilers:
Boilers run on oil are some of the most efficient boilers available, however the only type of heating system available with oil fuels are boilers. For an oil boiler to be run, you will usually need an oil tank to be installed outside your house which unfortunately is large and hard to disguise. You also need to conform to a variety of regulations in sighting it. A downside to having an oil heating system is that although it is the most efficient to run, if you allow the oil to run out then you will need a heating engineer to re-prime the system before you will be able to get it running again. |
Electric Boilers:
Effective Electric central heating USED TO BE limited to blown air systems or storage heaters, both run off cheap rate electricity supplied for a short amount of time in the morning, and occasionally topped up in the afternoon. Although storage heaters are reasonably efficient, they are on all of the time, so even on a hot day you will have heating on whether it is required or not.
A new form of electric powered heating is electric heating boilers. these are compact, light and can be run off cheep rate electricity. they can directly replace other boilers in conventional heating systems AND they are COMPLETELY SILENT.
