Central Heating Systems
Eco Dragon heating engineers specialise in the design, specification and installation of gas, oil, LPG, Air Source and Ground Source Heat Pump heating systems. Whatever the size of your home, our Eco Dragon heating specialists can advise you on the best configuration of heat source (e.g. boiler) and radiators/ underfloor heating to suit your specific needs.
You can rest assured that the advice you are being given is from an expert heating engineer who installs and maintains the central heating systems we are recommending. By replacing your old conventional boiler with a new energy efficient one, you can save on your bills by up to 40%.

The Conventional Heating SystemThe Conventional heating system needs to have 2 water tanks (one cold water storage, and the other an expansion/ feed tank) both located high up. A hot water cylinder is also required. The storage cylinder holds a large amount of hot water that is available to use almost immediately, however when the store has been used up it needs to be reheated which could take up to an hour. This system isn't considered to be the most efficient as there is heat loss in the pipe work between the boiler and the cylinder.

System Boiler Heating SystemsThere are 2 types of system boilers; a vented low pressure, and an un-vented high pressure system. Both of these systems require a hot water cylinder.
The vented system boiler is quicker and cheaper to install as most of the components (other than the storage tank) are held within the unit. It also has a faster response and a more economical running cost. An un-vented system boiler incorporates the equipment necessary to form a sealed system, including a pressure relief valve and a pressure gauge, which removes the need for a feed and expansion tank. |
Combi Boiler Heating SystemsCombi Boiler Heating systems are now the most used form of central heating boilers.
Most Combi's run on mains pressure water, which means they do not need tanks to be placed in the loft. They also take away the requirement for a hot water cylinder, as they heat the water instantly when it is needed. Another benefit with the combi boiler heating system is that because it runs from the mains water supply, you can create an effective power shower without the need for a pump. Combi boilers require the least amount of plumbing whilst being installed, therefore are less costly. |
Condensing Efficiency Boilers VS Standard Efficiency Boilers
All new boilers installed MUST meet minimum standards of operating efficiency as set by the government (SEDBUK Band D or higher), however like cars or household appliances such as washing machines, some boilers are more economically friendly than others.
Condensing boilers have how emission levels and are very energy efficient. An old conventional boiler runs at between 60-70% efficiency, a modern standard combi or conventional boiler is slightly more efficient, running at 80-84%. A condensing boiler on the other hand can recover and recycle most of its wasted heat energy, some are able to operate at up to 95-97% efficiency!
No matter what boiler you go with, make sure you book your regular Eco Dragon Boiler Service to keep your boiler on the road to a long life!
